Wooker Let’s just say in certain states of mind Epilogue feels as though you’re zooming through galaxies on a high speed burn to absolute zero. The G-force is enough to leave your face stuck to the back windshield. Favorite track: Epilogue.

about

Elision is a deeply personal work exploring the ways two distinct entities can combine to create more than the sum of their parts. Six tracks explore a range of genres and influences whilst maintaining the inimitable Seppa style.

The opener, ‘Monsoon’, sets the stage with a beatless but driving loop of detuned synths building to a heady climax before breaking apart once again.

‘Epilogue’ kicks off with an emotive and unstable chord progression at 156bpm punctuated by grooved out drums. Surging waves of bass and texture ebb and flow creating a memorable journey from start to finish.

‘Like That’ changes the tone to a wry grin in the form of an infectiously memorable 150bpm dance floor damager. A synthetic and mutating voice returns periodically to remind you, “I Like That”.

‘Warn’ steps toward a subterranean world of thunderous kick drums at 135bpm before shifting gear into a raw breakbeat roller. A luscious chord progression propelled by busy percussion work provides a counterpoint to the otherwise brooding atmosphere.

‘Fixt’ pounds you into submission at 160bpm with roaring basses and relentless drum patterns. An inescapable kick drum gradually grinds your bones to powder.

Finally, ‘Undertow’ taps into an atmospheric yet intense side of the drum & bass spectrum at 174bpm. Fusing an infectious dancehall low end with satisfyingly recurring hooks and textures it rounds out the EP by exploding into an expansive and emotional finale.

As always, Seppa shows his versatility whilst clearly retaining his distinctive sound and artistic vision. We’re excited to see him return to the label and are confident that this release will continue to push the sound forward.
